I'm 38 weeks today! We have exactly 12 days until we're meeting Nolan Harper. Want to know how I know that? I can even tell you we'll be welcoming his shiny face into this world at noon on November 16th...
We had our latest check up yesterday, which included a sonogram. Our doctor's appointment went well, and not so well. The sonogram showed he's healthy and has a cute nose and chubby cheeks. Nolan is weighing only 5 lbs 14 oz, but he's proportionate with the rest of his body. And as every sonogram tech has announced so far, Nolan is "all boy!" He's very proud of his manhood. Oh goodness...The sonogram tech went on showing his strong heartbeat, breathing patterns, etc. As she got to my bladder, she says, "well he's sitting on your bladder and his head is at your ribs." Wait, WHAT? You mean the other way around, right? Nope, she didn't. Nolan is breeched.
My OB isn't concerned with his weight, saying he's always measured a little small. The breech part is the issue. At this point there's really no turning him since there isn't much room in there for him to move. Trying to turn him could result in several things other than working: extremely painful, not effective, or an emergency c-section. So, we've scheduled our c-section, and Nolan is due to arrive Tuesday, November 16 @ noon!
I am a little sad, but also very very grateful. He's healthy and this isn't turning into an emergency situation. Our doctor is able to plan ahead for a smooth delivery. I shed some tears yesterday for a bit because we had his D-day imagined going a certain way, and now it turns out everything will be different. But, I'm over that now and just super excited that I know when he'll be here! We do go for another appointment and sonogram next Tuesday. If something is wrong, my OB will do the c-section next Wednesday. Otherwise, Nolan Harper will be in my arms 11/16/10!!!

wow!!!
That is excitign you know the day you will meet him.
Just curious- what if you go into labor before then? They just do a c-section at that time?
Exciting that you can now just countdown the days until you meet your little boy!
I had the same thing happen with Peyton. I was all prepared and planning on how I wanted my natural, no drug labor to go and she was breached at 35 weeks and I had low fluid levels so there was no way that she would turn. In the end, it all works out and you have a healthy baby and it seems like you have the right attitude going in.
Praying for these last few weeks and for your c-section.
I can't believe it is sooo soon!!! I wish he could have held out till the 30th of November...but hey, I can't wait to see his little, handsome face!!!
oh my gosh, how exciting!!! you know the exact date you will meet your little man!! i can not wait to see him!! :) i know he is gong to be adorable!! these next 12 days are going to fly by hun!!
So exciting!! It is nerve racking having a c-section, but having a baby is so wonderful, you will forget any pain. I was so upset when my plans changed too! He will be here soooo soon! Can't wait to see his sweet face!
Wishing you all the best!!!
I know it's disappointing when things don't go as planned, but your attitude is great - no matter how he gets here, you will get your healthy baby and that's really all that matters.
I was a little bummed to have a c-section too (what? no rushing to the hospital in suspense if this is really it?!?) but how exciting to know when our babies are going to be born! :)
I can imagine how disappointing it is to have a c-section when that's what you wanted. It is pretty cool to know exactly when he's coming though. I can't wait to see his cute face. I hope and pray it's a super smooth delivery.
I can understand how disappointing it is when this isn't what you were hoping for. I think it's pretty cool that you know exactly when he'll be here though. I can't wait to see his cute face. I pray for a super smooth delivery.
YAY!! Exciting to know when you'll get to hold your little guy.. unless he comes sooner! ;)
and my arms too =)
Oh my gosh, this is so exciting!!! I can't wait until you get to meet your little boy and then introduce him to us. :-)
