You'll be asked hundreds of times "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Until the day you were born, even though I had a full time job, I could never answer this question with any conviction. Now I know why. I was born to be your Mommy. You have created the one career I am best at. Thank you.
While you may be 10 weeks 6 days old, it took me just a week to settle in and become completely comfortable in this new position. I must say, I think I'm fairing well. I did luck out, though; you are a pretty good boss. And, yes, you are definitely the new head of management around here. We have a nice groove going, you and I. As each day passes I know in my heart this is what I was made for. I can answer whole heartedly when asked "What do you want to be when you grow up." I want to be Nolan's Mommy. While I may have to go back to work eventually, for now this is exactly where I am supposed to be.
I never pictured such a colorful job description would satisfy me, but I love every second. For instance, near the end of many a mid-morning feeding, you let rip a powerful explosion that usually results in crap. Everywhere. Like on Mommy's arm, everywhere. Surprisingly I don't freak out or even mind. Instead I wait until you've finished feeding and burping before I change and clean you. Only then do I find whatevers nearest to wipe off my own arm. Or when you vomit down my unsuspecting boob crack and I just shrug as I continue patting your back while singing "Hush Little Baby" until your stomach has settled. If you're screaming by the time Mommy gets out of the shower, I perform one of your personal favorites "The Hokey Pokey" before ever even drying off. I am perfecting my silly faces and nursery rhymes. I love changing rancid diapers and having compassion for the dairy cows of the world. I don't mind changing your clothes ten times a day because of spit up, doing endless loads of laundry, or that you pee in the tub when we bathe together. Your happiness is my everything; my world revolves around you.
Nolan, you won't find me putting in my application anywhere else. I wouldn't quit this job for the world. Now that I proudly wear the title of Mommy on my name tag, I know this was the career path I was always meant to take.
Love,
Mommy
PS...Will my bonus arrive by mail?
