Mommy and Nolan had a 'terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day' yesterday. Some days are just going to be rough; I know this. There is no handbook that can get you through days like these, either. My saving grace came in the form of my husband and Sam Adams Boston Lager (don't judge...the baby was put to bed before busting out the booze).
By 7:30am, I had spit up on my face, shirt and pants. By 11:30am, Nolan had gotten two baths. Between 2 and 4pm, Nolan spit up seven times; had his clothes changed 5 times in 10 minutes; and I gave up after three shirt changes for myself in 30 minutes. I eventually went to bed in clothes with dried vomit. Between his amazing bouts of laughter, there was quite a bit of screaming and only three 30 minute naps. Days like these make you want to rip your hair out, especially since I had been cooped up in the house for three days straight due to horrible weather. Several times when Nolan was screaming, I would scream, too. He didn't think it was very funny. I love my son, but Aaron couldn't have walked in the door a minute sooner. Is that wrong?
Don't misunderstand me. I would take a million of these rough days for even just one of Nolan's smiles. No one said being a Mommy is easy, and boy were they right! You've got to have a huge heart and be one tough cookie before entering into this business. After being spit up on or screamed at, all you need to do is look down in your baby's eyes. Knowing he puts all his faith in me, makes my world right again...even if I'm wiping spit up off my arm at the same time. Once he finally fell asleep in my arms last night with Aaron by my side, all it took was for me to look at his face before the waterworks started. I am so blessed to have Aaron for his father and Nolan as our son. When I said out loud, "I can't believe he's mine," Aaron quickly corrected that to "ours." Whoops!

The rough days will definitely happen, but his smile is so worth it! Plus, you have an amazing support system, both in real life and here in blog land...email me when you're having a rough day and I'll do a little screaming for you in Colorado. lol.
